Pronounce beignet in the Big Uneasy!

I just made a huge pot of gumbo. I've cooked a few cajun dishes before, but this has been my best gumbo so far... even if I didn't have any meat in it from a lizard family (turtle, gator, etc.) Also, if you didn't know, cooking is a hobby of mine.
Hopefully I will have a chance to get some beignets this weekend when I go down to new orleans for a comiccon (come find me at Fan Expo... but I gotta say that I'm eternally grateful to X-Men '97 for the scene where Gambit explains how to pronounce beignet (ben-yay).
I assume all you literate people are like me and learned much of your vocabulary from reading...
As for the Big Uneasy reference, if you've ever read Kevin J Anderson's Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series, you'd get the joke. It's what they call NOLA after the vampires, zombies, and other unnaturals take it over. I recommend the series as as lighthearted more humorous take on the genre vompared to Harry Dresden; if you got the Twisted Yuletide book on my last crowdfunder, it includes Naughty and Nice, where Dan Shamble investigates a job for Santa :)
...and speaking of crowdfunding, I have a new Kickstarter campaign coming mid March. Please visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/feyduelist/shadowless-the-darkest-edition-novel-black-pages-foil and then click that "notify me on release" button. Kickstarter will send you a message when the campaign goes live. This is a black page expanded edition of Shadowless. Every follow/click helps with my visibility, and this book is one my best reviewed books! (It's also on audio/ebook on my website if you want to check it out there first.)

Love the mix of cooking and writing! The Kickstarter sounds promising—black page editions add a unique touch to books. sholt table
