ABOUT ME

Christopher D. Schmitz is author of both Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fiction and Nonfiction books and has been published in both traditional and independent outlets.

He is an indie author and game designer from the upper midwest and lives in/owns a haunted Victorian mansion (a functioning Bed and Breakfast) where he hosts regular games and plays bagpipes when he's not writing. People play his mysteries there, as well as participate in gaming-related tourism

After writing multiple series, he secured the license to write all the fantasy novels for TSR’s Lester Smith created game Dragon Dice (a still-popular game from the mid-90s.) His involvement in the gaming world led to writing modules for one of GaleForce 9’s Firefly games. He built out the lore/world for the Gudnak fantasy board game system alongside Jennifer Brozek (Battletech) and Ed Greenwood (creator of Forgotten Realms). Schmitz has published stories for the Shadowrun universe as well. He also co-wrote/finished and published unreleased books with TSR authors Edo Van Belkom (Lord Soth, Wolf Pack, Et. al,) and Ed Stark/T.H. Lain (City of Fire,) both of which had been announced prior to the WotC acquisition but finished many years later after acquiring the rights.

He’s also written RPG modules for a variety of systems, including the campy cryptid-hunting SUDS RPG system and written modules for Luke Gygax’s Okkorim setting as well as modules for Dungeon Crawl Classics, plus wrote some Firefly modules for Galeforce 9’s Brigands and Browncoats game. He is a member of the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers (IAMTW), SFWA, GAMA, and IASF.

On any given weekend, he can usually be found at gaming and comic conventions across the USA. Some, he has more responsibilities than others. He is a part of the Gencon Author’s Symposium and editor of their official Anthology, plus he does the same for the Origins Game Fair writing anthology as well.
